The Templestowe Hotel is a traditional 91 bedroom hotel. Please find outlined below our information. We hope to ensure you enjoy your visit to the Templestowe Hotel regardless of whether your life is affected in some way by a medical condition, disability, impairment or specific learning difficulty.

We recognise that there is no single hotel design or layout that will entirely meet all individuals’ needs and preferences. Any special requests can be made in writing to the General Manager (Laura Cunningham) or by telephoning the hotel directly. The more information you can provide regarding any disability or impairment will let us prepare for your visit to the best of our ability.

It is always advised to add on this information at the time of booking.

Should you require a taxi to the hotel from Coach Station (5 minute drive) or Torquay Train Station (5 minute drive), we use a reliable company on a regular basis. They do have vehicles suitable for wheelchairs if required.

Directions to the hotel can be found on our website. Please note the hotel is situated at the top of the town centre and the hill has a steep gradient.

Wheel chairs and electric scooters should all be pre booked in advance, reception can advise of local companies which will deliver.

On Arrival at the hotel

We have limited car parking outside the hotel. Car parking can be reserved on booking for a cost of £5 per night.

You can use the front of the hotel area to unload luggage and then you will be given directions to a more suitable area to park your car for a longer period.

Without pre-paid parking, spaces are on a first come, first served basis.

We have one allocated blue badge holder space this is also on a first come, first served basis and cannot be pre booked. Entrance to the hotel is on the street level and can be accessed by a wheelchair. We are more than happy to help you with your luggage and will collect it from your car and deliver it to your room.

Reception Area

Floor is carpeted and suitable for wheelchairs. Reception is all on one level.

One lift is available to the guest bedrooms, restaurant, bar and leisure facilities. If you require an accessible room please contact the hotel directly.

There are chairs and tables situated in reception, however due to certain themed breaks they may not always be provided due to the vast amount of decorations.

Corridors

Our corridors are well lit, carpeted and have small levels of incline. Lights in the corridors are on a sensor system and are checked regularly. For reasons of fire safety, the circulation corridors of our hotels are subdivided at regular intervals by self-closing, fire resisting doors.

Accommodation

The majority of bedrooms are accessible from the lift. However some bedrooms are better reached by using the stairs. The lift only services one side of the hotel. Please inform reception if you are in need of a room close to the lift or on the ground floor prior to arrival.

All of the hotel bedrooms vary in size some are more than ample to accommodate a wheelchair user. Not all bedrooms have walk in showers; some have baths, please advise reception if you require a walk in shower.

We have three accessable bedrooms with full access to the toilets which have been fitted with grab rails. (This is subject to hotel availability)

Two of our bedrooms have been fitted with seats in the showers and we do have a portable shower chair. Some showers have grab rails inside.

The restaurant can be accessed on the lower level with no steps.

Tables can be booked with the Restaurant Manager.

We have a designated disabled public toilet in the hotel located on the lower ground floor.

The sun terrace area is only accessable by one step; there is a lower step to the terrace assessable through the ballroom.

The swimming pool is only assessable by 3 steps with hand rails either side.

All areas are well lit.

The ballroom is accessible by wheel chair.

The bar has two steps with grab rails in place.

The sun terrace area is only accessable by one step; there is a lower step to the terrace assessable through the ballroom.

The swimming pool is only assessable by 3 steps with hand rails either side.

Additional Information

Service dogs are welcome.


Fridges are available for medication.


We do welcome guests with dietary needs and staff are trained in meeting the needs of customers with allergies and good intolerances. Please inform the hotel directly and we will be happy to discuss your dietary requirements before your arrival.
